In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a method related to Embryo Transfer (ET). This method is popularly known as the test tube baby program, in which the ovum of the wife/donor (female) and the sperm of the husband/donor (male) are collected and the formation of the zygote is induced under simulated conditions in the laboratory. The Zygote or early embryo (containing up to 8 blastomere cells) is then transferred into the fallopian tube (Zygote Intra Fallopian Transfer - ZIFT) and embryos with more than 8 blastomere cells are transferred to the uterus to complete further development (Intra Uterine Transfer- IUT).
